‘Save your chair, please your allies’: LoP Rahul Gandhi launches a scathing attack on Narendra Modi-led BJP over Budget 2024, calls it a ‘copycat budget’

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in a scathing criticism slammed the latest Union Budget and termed it a “copycat” budget.

“Save your chair” budget.

– Appeasing allies: Hollow promises to them at the cost of other states.

– Appeasing allies: No relief to common Indian, but benefits to AA.

– Copy and paste: Congress manifesto and previous budgets.

His tweet, which has garnered a lot of buzz, argues that the budget is more focused on protecting political positions than addressing the pressing economic needs of the country. In Gandhi’s assessment, the budget has three major flaws in his eyes:

1. Appeasing allies: Gandhi accused the government of using the budget to appease its political allies with empty promises. According to him, these promises are more about securing loyalty than delivering substantial benefits to states that actually need support. By prioritising the demands of political partners, he argues, the budget ignores the broader need for balanced and equitable growth across all sectors.
