Sadhguru has been suffering from severe headaches for the past four weeks, Isha Foundation said in a statement.
New Delhi: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev underwent surgery at a Delhi hospital for life-threatening brain hemorrhage, his Isha Foundation said in a statement. It said he was recovering well and improving beyond expectations.
In a video posted on Instagram, Sadhguru joked from his hospital bed after the surgery, “The neurosurgeons at Apollo Hospital cut my skull and tried to find something. But they couldn’t find anything… Kind of empty.”
He said, “…They gave up and fixed it. Here I am in Delhi, with a patch on my scalp but no damage.”
Sadhguru had been suffering from intense headaches for the past four weeks, the statement said. Despite the intensity of the headaches, he continued with his programs and activities, and even held a night event on the 8th of March, 2024.
By the time he reached Delhi on the afternoon of March 14, the headache became severe, the foundation said, adding, “On the advice of Dr Vineet Suri of Indraprastha Apollo Sadhguru was rushed to the hospital and underwent an MRI which showed a massive amount of bleeding in his brain. The release said that reports showed that there was still a lot of bleeding and that fresh bleeding had occurred in the hours leading up to the test. However, he declined to be admitted without completing his work obligations. The release said that on March 17, Sadhguru began to show symptoms of illness, such as weakness in the left leg, increasing headache, and constant vomiting.
“He was eventually admitted. A CT scan revealed a significant increase in brain swelling and a life-threatening change on one side of the brain…within hours of admission he was relieved of bleeding in his skull. “He underwent emergency brain surgery. After Sadhguru’s surgery, he was taken off the ventilator.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the spiritual leader and wished him speedy recovery.
