Police reveals Ujjain rape case: ‘Auto driver caught minor when she was roaming alone’
The accused has been identified as autorickshaw driver Bharat Soni. When Soni was taken to the crime scene, he tried to run away from the police, but was injured and referred to the hospital, where he is recovering.
Ujjain police have arrested the main accused in the rape of a minor girl, who was seen in CCTV footage going door-to-door asking for help, while bleeding and only partially dressed.
The accused has been identified as autorickshaw driver Bharat Soni. When Soni was taken to the crime scene, he tried to run away from the police, but was injured and referred to the hospital, where he is recovering.
Police have also traced and contacted the girl’s family in Satna district of the state.
The accused was being taken to reenact the crime site, according to Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma. He was hurt while attempting to flee the scene. Our police personnel suffered injuries as well.
“We will conduct character verification of all autorickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers in Ujjain and create a database,” he said.
“Today, we arrived at the scene to recreate the crime scene and recovered the girl’s clothing,” Inspector Ajay Kumar stated. When the opportunity presented itself, Bharat Soni attempted to flee. The police chased after him and caught him. He fell during this and hurt his wrists and legs as he hit the cement road.
