ED seizes assets worth ₹52.49 lakh from YouTuber Elvish Yadav for illegal use of snakes in music videos

On September 26, 2024, it was reported that assets worth ₹52.49 lakh were provisionally seized by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a wildlife crime case involving the illegal usage of exotic animals and snakes in vlogs and music videos.

The action was taken following a case registered in May under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), based on an FIR and chargesheet filed against popular YouTuber Siddharth Yadav, popularly known as Elvish Yadav.

The seized properties include agricultural land and bank accounts located in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. The ED statement said that these properties are linked to Elvish Yadav, Rahul Yadav (alias Fazilpuria) and Sky Digital India Pvt Ltd.

The agency alleged that Elvish Yadav and Fazilpuria illegally used protected species of snakes, exotic animals such as iguanas in making commercial music videos and vlogs to gain followers and earn money.

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday said it has seized assets worth over Rs 52 lakh of YouTuber Siddharth Yadav alias Elvish Yadav, his friend and singer Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpuria, and a company as part of a money laundering probe.

A provisional order has been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to confiscate agricultural land in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district and certain bank deposits of the three entities, the ED said in a statement.

The total value of the properties is Rs 52.49 lakh.

The agency alleged that Elvish Yadav and Fazilpuria “illegally used protected species of snakes, exotic animals such as iguanas in the creation of commercial music videos and vlogs with the objective of increasing the number of followers and earning money.” “These music videos were given to Sky Digital India Pvt Ltd and the videos were then uploaded on YouTube to generate revenue,” the agency said. It cited the Noida police FIR, saying these music videos and vlogs “committed cruelty” to wildlife.

The federal agency has questioned both Elvish and Fazilpuria in a case related to the suspected use of snake venom as recreational drugs at parties organised by them and related financial transactions. The central agency had registered a case in May and slapped charges under the PMLA after taking cognizance of two police FIRs and chargesheets filed by the Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) district police in Uttar Pradesh against Elvish Yadav and related persons.

This time, actress Palak Sindhwani is involved. The makers have issued a formal notice to Palak Sindhwani, who plays Sonu Bhide in the show. Television’s popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is now facing another legal issue as the makers have issued a formal notice to Palak Sindhwani, who plays Sonu Bhide in the show.

The notice states that without obtaining written approval, as stipulated in her contract, Palak has participated in unapproved third-party advertising and productions, which has violated her contract. The makers have also stated that the integrity of the character and the series was compromised by these offences, which continued despite multiple written and verbal warnings and the exclusivity contract was violated, resulting in them being forced to take official action as a strict consequence. Palak, in her response, stated that she will be exiting the show very soon, which will mark the second exit of any actor or actress from such a long-running show.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Palak Sindhwani said that she had informed the production house about her decision to quit the show on August 8. The producers told her that she had to send her resignation to their official email, which was never shared with her.The actress was shocked to read articles alleging she had broken her contract, and she claimed the team “delayed approving my resignation.”

Jagan Reddy cancels visit to Tirupati temple amid row over animal fat in laddus

Mr. Reddy had previously declared that he would go to the temple to atone for the “sin” that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu—who has maintained that the laddus served at the temple as “prasad” was made with animal fat—was alleged to have committed.

YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday cancelled his visit to the Tirumala temple, which was aimed at atonement for the “sin” allegedly committed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has claimed that animal fat was used in making the famous laddus offered as ‘prasad’ at the temple.

During a Friday afternoon press conference, Mr. Reddy claimed he was not permitted to enter the temple; however, Mr. Naidu’s TDP denied this claim.

The decision comes amid a political row in the state after the TDP and its ally BJP demanded that Mr Reddy, a former Andhra Pradesh chief minister, sign a manifesto for non-Hindus. The parties have said that as per the rules of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, which manages the Tirumala Tirupati temple, foreigners and non-Hindus must declare their devotion to Lord Venkateswara, to whom the shrine is dedicated, before entering the temple.

BJP registers victory in Delhi Municipal Corporation panel election after AAP and Congress stay away

This all happened after the Aam Aadmi Party last night boycotted voting in a late-night session called by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the Centre’s representative in the national capital.

On Friday afternoon, the BJP’s Sunder Singh Tanwar was nominated for the 18th and final seat of the Delhi Municipal Corporation’s standing committee, the election for which involved only councillors from his party. Tanwar got 115 votes – the number of BJP councillors in the House.

Tanwar’s win – which will almost certainly be challenged in court – means the BJP now has control of the standing committee, widely seen as the real power behind the civic body. The BJP now has 10 of its 18 members and can select the chairperson.

The AAP has 125 councillors and had the party voted today (and provided none of its votes were snatched away by the BJP) it would have won the election and gained control of the standing committee, which takes most of the civic body’s financial decisions.

The nine-member Congress did not participate in the vote.

This all happened after the Aam Aadmi Party last night boycotted voting in a late-night session called by Lt Governor VK Saxena, the Centre’s representative in the national capital.

US Presidential Election 2024: Kamala Harris takes lead over Donald Trump after debate; 61% chance of victory

US Presidential Election 2024: Kamala Harris takes lead over Donald Trump after debate; 61% chance of victory

After the presidential debate, Kamala Harris has increased her lead over Donald Trump in all but one of a dozen polls tracked by aggregator 538.

Harris’ advantage in the nationwide popular vote now ranges between 2 and 7 points, with most polls exceeding the usual 3.5-point margin of error, reports ABC News.

While Donald Trump could potentially lose the national popular vote and still secure the presidency through the Electoral College, 538’s latest analysis presents a challenging outlook for his campaign.

The aggregator now projects a 39 percent chance of Trump winning the Electoral College, while Kamala Harris’ chances are pegged at 61 percent. In 1,000 simulations run by 538, Harris emerged victorious 609 times, Trump 387 times, while in four cases there was no clear winner.

These surveys were conducted before the second alleged assassination attempt on Trump, an event that some MAGA media claims is not being covered enough by mainstream outlets. 538, owned by ABC News, is accused by Trump of colluding with Harris and twisting last week’s debate in his favor.

However, Nate Silver, founder of 538 and who now runs the Silver Bulletin blog, paints a different picture. His model gives Trump a 60 percent chance of winning and Harris a 38 percent chance.

Such rigged numbers are dubious, given that Hillary Clinton was projected to have a more than 90 percent chance of winning on the eve of the 2016 election. With both political sides accusing each other of manipulating surveys to claim victory in the event of a close election, many analysts are concerned about potential deadlock and violence on November 5.

Election Day results are usually known by late night, particularly if the result is close. Tensions might, however, increase in a close race where one or two states determine whether 270 Electoral College votes are cast, particularly if states like Pennsylvania experience delays in the counting of mail-in ballots. Vote preferences remained largely unchanged after the debate. The latest poll shows Harris ahead of Trump by 51-46% among all adults, 51-47% among registered voters and 52-46% among likely voters.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump repeated false claims that Chinese automakers are building huge factories in Mexico, the AP reported. During a visit to Michigan, he promised to impose a 200% tariff on any vehicles produced by these non-existent plants and imported into the US.

Trump also claimed in Flint that if Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris wins in November, the US auto industry will collapse as electric vehicle production shifts to China. In response, the Harris campaign released a statement from Michigan Senator Gary Peters, in which he argued that a second Trump term would devastate auto jobs and hand Michigan’s manufacturing leadership to China. Peters emphasized that Harris has a plan to bring high-quality manufacturing jobs back to the US and maintain Michigan’s global leadership in auto manufacturing.
