Jharkhand journalist detained by CBI over NEET “paper leak”

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Hazaribagh journalist Mohammad Jamaluddin for allegedly “helping” two accused in the alleged paper leak of this year’s NEET exam, The Indian Express reported citing a source.

The arrest occurs one day after vice principal Imtiyaz Alam and principal Dr. Ehsanul Haque of Jharkhand’s Oasis School were taken into custody in relation to the purported paper leak. The National Testing Agency also named Alam the Hazaribagh district coordinator for NEET-UG.

Jamaluddin was arrested after the central agency allegedly “received crucial technical evidence against him”, the report said. The CBI also suspects that the paper was leaked at the Oasis School.

Newslaundry had earlier reported that the Centre has notified the anti-paper leak law and also formed a committee to review the NTA.

As thousands of candidates remain in limbo, Newslaundry has begun its investigation to uncover the alleged exam scam across the country. But as you know, we can only do this with your support. Fund our new NL Sena project NEET, but don’t miss the clean and compelling reporting that matters.
