New Delhi: Indian High Commissioner to Britain Vikram Doraiswami was stopped by Khalistani extremists from entering a Gurudwara in Scotland. This incident has come to light amid the controversy over Canada accusing India of being involved in the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
According to a purported video going viral on social media, a pro-Khalistan activist was seen stopping Mr Doraiswami from entering the Glasgow Gurudwara on Albert Drive.
In the parking lot, two people may be seen on film standing close to the High Commissioner’s car. One of them can be seen attempting to open the locked automobile door from the inside. The High Commissioner’s automobile then drives out from the Gurudwara grounds.
The Gurdwara Management Committee had invited the Indian High Commissioner. A longer version of the purported video also shows Khalistani extremists threatening the Gurdwara Management Committee staff.
The Indian government has not yet provided a statement. Considering that the incident had to do with the High Commissioner’s security, sources claim that a police report has been made.
Controversy erupted after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that “agents of the Indian government” were involved in the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India rejected Trudeau’s allegations as “absurd”.

Trudeau has not presented any evidence to support his allegation against India, but reports say it was a shared information between an intelligence coalition including the US, Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Rejecting this allegation, India has accused Canada of providing safe haven to terrorists.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi reprimanded Trudeau for increasing separatist activities in Canada during a bilateral meeting on the margins of the G20 conference in Delhi, tensions between the two nations had risen. According to reports, India gave him a list of nine Khalistani agents in 2018.
