But some solid contributions from the top order helped Australia post a solid score of 352/7, the highest at this venue. Marsh, however, missed his century and fell short by four runs when he was dismissed by Kuldeep in the 28th over. Steve Smith managed to score his half-century, but soon Marsh also returned to the pavilion as Siraj took his wicket with an LBW decision. Marnus Labuschagne scored his third half-century and managed to hold on to one end despite the fall of wickets. In the end, Pat Cummins’s inning of 19 runs in 22 balls was enough to take Australia past 350.
David Warner contributed to Australia’s explosive start, scoring a half-century off just 32 balls and sending Australia into a boundary frenzy. However, Prasidh Krishna, despite conceding 19 runs in his first over, managed to dismiss Warner, giving India their first success in the competition. All this happened when Australia captain Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first in the third ODI at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot. Both teams made five changes each in their lineup.
