Elon Musk sparks meme storm after Donald Trump floats idea of Cabinet role for Tesla chief
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been offered a Cabinet seat or advisory role by former President Donald Trump if he is re-elected. Musk had endorsed Trump in July after the former president narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a campaign event in western Pennsylvania. With these recent comments, social media has been flooded with a variety of posts and one such update caught Musk’s attention.
An X page posted, “Donald Trump says he would offer Elon Musk a Cabinet or advisory role if he is elected president.” In response, an X user named ‘Sir Doge of the Coin’ wrote, “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)”, followed by a laughing emoji.
This comes just days after Donald Trump returned to X in the most dramatic way possible – a live appearance with Musk, the site’s current owner. The interview, which took place on X’s live audio platform Spaces, covered topics ranging from union busting to illegal immigration.
The start of the livestream was delayed by about an hour due to technical problems. Musk said it looked like X was under a “massive DDOS attack” about 20 minutes after it began. The two men constantly praised each other. The Tesla CEO praised Trump’s courage during the assassination attempt last month, and Trump congratulated Musk for his willingness to fire workers.
