CBI makes first arrest in NEET UG paper leak case, 2 people detained from Patna

In the case of the NEET paper leak, the CBI has filed six FIRs.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers NEET-UG for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in public and private universities across the nation.

On May 5, 2024, 4,750 centers in 571 cities—14 of which were overseas—hosted this year’s exam. In all, over 23 lakh candidates took the test.

The first CBI FIR was registered on Sunday, a day after the ministry announced that it would hand over the investigation into alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exam to the central agency.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made its first arrest in the NEET-UG paper leak case in Bihar, detaining two persons named Manish Kumar and Ashutosh from Patna.
Ashutosh had arranged for the students to stay at his house, but Manish Kumar had arranged for the students to be transported in his car. It is suspected that Manish Kumar used a closed school where at least twenty students were given the leaked paper and memorised it.
