BTS’ J-Hope Buys Multi-Million Dollar Penthouse In Cash: Report

J-Hope of BTS has gained attention for his most recent real estate purchase—a penthouse in Afar Hangang that he paid cash for. J-Hope has reportedly purchased a duplex unit at the upscale Afar Hangang Penthouse complex in Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, according to a report by Ten Asia. The large apartment, which is spread over two floors and 273.86 square meters, highlights his investment in opulent living.

The transaction, reportedly finalised on June 10, saw J-Hope take full ownership of the property allotted to him in 2020. Valued at around 12 billion KRW, which is equivalent to approximately $8.6 million USD, the Afar Hangang Penthouse exemplifies top-tier residential offerings in Seoul. Designed by renowned architect Professor Yoo Hyun Joon of Hongik University, the complex features 26 units ranging from 205.84 to 273.94 square meters, extending from the 5th basement to the 10th floor above ground. Located next to Yongsan Park, Afar Hangang offers breathtaking views of both the park and the Han River, making it attractive as a prime residential location. Residents benefit from exclusive amenities including private limousines, house cleaning and concierge services, marking it as a preferred address for affluent individuals. This acquisition adds to J-Hope’s portfolio of luxury properties, which includes two units at the Trimage Complex in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. In 2016, he bought a 32-pyeong unit (approximately 1,139 sq ft) and then a 62-pyeong unit (approximately 2,205.96 sq ft) for a total of KRW 3.7 billion, paid entirely in cash. Despite owning both units in trimage, he highlights his investment in prime real estate.
