AAP: BJP and CBI are “conspiring” to keep Arvind Kejriwal behind bars.
The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday (August 24, 2024) accused the BJP and central probe agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of hatching an alleged conspiracy to keep DelhiIn the excise policy case, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is incarcerated.
There was no immediate reaction from the CBI or the BJP to the AAP’s allegations.
Senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Atishi claimed that the CBI had asked the Supreme Court for more time to respond to Mr. Kejriwal’s bail request, which had been “planted” in media.
“The CBI says in court that its reply to the bail plea is not ready and hence the bail hearing should be extended by 14 days. The CBI’s response is provided to the media on the same day so that they can create biased headlines in newspapers,” Mr. Sisodia wrote in Hindi on X. “To keep Arvind Kejriwal in jail, the CBI is dancing like a puppet at the behest of the BJP,” he declared. The senior AAP leader predicted that one day, the lies and deceit that are being hatched for the purpose of “headline management” will be exposed.
He stated that although agencies may follow political trends, justice and the Constitution always side with the truth. On Friday, the Supreme Court deferred hearing on Mr Kejriwal’s bail plea in the excise policy case till September 5 after the agency sought more time to file an affidavit on it. Mr Kejriwal has filed two separate petitions against the denial of bail and his arrest by the CBI in the case.
In its detailed affidavit filed in response to the petition challenging Mr Kejriwal’s arrest, the CBI alleged that all crucial decisions in the formulation of the now-defunct excise policy were taken at the behest of the Delhi Chief Minister in connivance with the then Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia.
