Why BJP lost Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh – 6 reasons in party report
The report has highlighted a significant drop of 8% in the BJP’s vote share across all regions of Uttar Pradesh.
Amid reports of internal strife among leaders, the Uttar Pradesh BJP unit has submitted a detailed report to the party’s top leadership, detailing the reasons for the Lok Sabha poll defeat. The report highlights concerns such as paper leaks, recruitment of contract workers for government jobs and the alleged arbitrariness of the state administration, which has reportedly led to discontent and dissatisfaction among party workers.
Following the electoral victory of the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance that bagged 43 of the state’s 80 Lok Sabha seats, while the NDA got 36 (down from 64 in 2019), the state BJP has submitted a comprehensive 15-page analysis pointing out the shortcomings of the campaign. Sources revealed that feedback was collected from around 40,000 people to assess the party’s performance, with special focus on key constituencies like Ayodhya and Amethi.
