Following some lewd remarks made on social media against Smriti Singh, the widow of Kirti Chakra winner Captain Anshuman Singh, on social media, a controversy has broken out.
The comments were made on a photo of Singh at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where she was receiving the award on behalf of her late husband.
Irate social media users have demanded action against those who made the lewd comments.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also written to the Delhi Police, demanding action.
The commission wrote on x, “The NCW condemns this behaviour and urges immediate police action.”

Anshuman died in a fierce fire in Siachen last July.
Anshuman was an Indian Army medical officer serving with the 26 Punjab Regiment.
He served in Operation Meghdoot as a medical officer stationed in Siachen.
According to the Times of India, the Indian Army captain saved many of his comrades during the accident.
According to NDTV, an ammunition dump of the Indian Army in Siachen caught fire due to a short circuit on July 19, 2023.
Anshuman saw a fire in a fireglass hut.
Without hesitation, he rushed inside and rescued many people.
However, the fire spread to the nearby medical examination room.
According to the Indian Express, Anshuman lost his life while trying to get life-saving medication.
Anshuman was cremated with full state honours in Bhagalpur, Bihar on July 22, 2023.
On Friday, Anshuman was awarded the Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award, by President Draupadi Murmu.
