The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said there was no information yet on the future plans of Sheikh Hasina, just days after the Bangladeshi leader fled her country amid violent protests against her rule. When asked when she would leave India, a ministry spokesperson said, “We have no information on her plan…” The ministry also said it was monitoring all developments and hoped for an early end to the crisis in Bangladesh. The situation in that country was still evolving, the ministry said.
Mrs Hasina – who had resigned and left Dhaka just hours before the attack on the prime minister’s residence – was evacuated on a military plane and taken to an IAF base in Uttar Pradesh. She was expected to proceed to seek political asylum in the United Kingdom, but there has been no news since.
