Vodafone Idea Q1 FY25: Revenue of INR 105.1 billion, with 126.7 million 4G subscribers

Vodafone Idea reported Q1 FY25 results, with revenue reaching Rs. 105.1 billion. Quarterly EBITDA (pre-Ind AS 116) was Rs. 21.0 billion, marking a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 4.2%.

According to an exchange filing on Monday, the telecom firm reported a loss of Rs 6,432.1 crore in the June quarter as against a loss of Rs 7,665.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The consensus estimate of analysts tracked by Bloomberg was Rs 7,639 crore.

At Rs 10,508.3 crore, revenue for the three months ended in June decreased 1% from the previous year. The revenue that analysts had predicted was Rs 10,655 crore.

Operating income fell 3% year-on-year to Rs 4,204.7 crore. Ebitda margin declined to 40% from 40.9% in the same period last year. Analysts’ estimates for Ebitda and Ebitda margin tracked by Bloomberg were Rs 4,257 crore and 40%, respectively.

Bank and financial institution debt as a whole decreased by Rs 4,550 crore. The telecom behemoth had Rs 18,150 crore in cash and bank balance as of June 30. At the end of the quarter, the company owed the government Rs 2.09 lakh crore. This included an AGR liability of Rs 70,320 crore and deferred spectrum payment obligations of Rs 1.39 lakh crore.

“Our current capital expenditure needs are being met from equity funds,” said chief executive officer Akshay Mundra. “We are in talks with our lenders for debt financing for our network expansion, with a capital expenditure plan of Rs 500-550 billion over the next three years.”
