This new phone from Motorola comes with a fantastic four-year warranty.

The offer is limited to China, but we would love to see it in other markets as well. Motorola has announced that the upcoming Moto S50 Neo will get a four-year warranty. This will be in the form of a standard one-year warranty as well as a free three-year extended warranty. The phone and warranty offer are limited to China for now. Many Android phones sold in the US come with a one-year warranty, while devices in the EU and many other markets are required to have a two-year warranty.

If two years isn’t long enough, what then? If you reside in the appropriate nation, Motorola has a phone for you. In contrast to other manufacturers’ warranties, Motorola has disclosed that the upcoming Moto S50 Neo budget smartphone will come with a four-year guarantee. Additionally verified is the Moto S50 Neo’s 5,000mAh battery and 171 grams of weight. The phone has apparently also appeared on China’s TENAA regulatory website, with an FHD+ OLED screen, a 2.3GHz octa-core chip, a 50MP+8MP rear camera pairing, and a 32MP selfie snapper.

Regretfully, the Moto S50 Neo and its warranty offer are currently limited to China. We’ve contacted Motorola to find out if it intends to provide a four-year warranty for any US-based phones, and we’ll update this page accordingly. However, we would really like to see it or other brands adopt four-year warranties in international markets.

Counterpoint Research previously predicted that people will hold on to their phones for around 40 months in 2023. We’ve also seen several manufacturers offer five or seven years of software updates. So warranty and spare parts availability matching these software promises seems sensible.
