Supreme Court to pronounce verdict tomorrow on Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in liquor policy case
The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict tomorrow on the bail plea of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia related to the liquor policy case.
A bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan reserved the verdict on August 6. The verdict will be pronounced by Justice Gavai.
Sisodia has filed pleas seeking bail in cases registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act respectively.
Sisodia has moved the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court order of May 21, which dismissed his second bail plea. He is seeking bail in cases registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act respectively in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam. He was initially taken into custody by the ED on March 9 and the CBI on February 26 of last year, respectively.
The Supreme Court rejected his plea in October of last year, but they permitted him to reapply for bail if the trial did not proceed in three months. His subsequent bail pleas filed in the trial court were dismissed. The Delhi High Court also refused to grant him relief, following which he approached the Supreme Court. On June 4, the Supreme Court had disposed of Sisodia’s initial bail request following the recording of the Solicitor General of India’s guarantee that the chargesheet and prosecution complaint in the liquor policy case would be submitted by July 3, 2024, at the latest. Sisodia was also given permission by the court to resubmit his bail petition following the filing of the official complaint and chargesheet.
