“Students want answers”: Rahul Gandhi writes to PM seeking debate on NEET

He said the Opposition’s request to hold a discussion on NEET was rejected in both Houses of Parliament on June 28 and Monday and added that the Lok Sabha Speaker has assured the Opposition that he will discuss the matter with the government.

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting his government to hold a debate on the issue of medical entrance exam NEET in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

He said the Opposition’s request to hold a discussion on NEET was rejected in both Houses of Parliament on June 28 and Monday and added that the Lok Sabha Speaker has assured the Opposition that he will discuss the matter with the government.

“I am writing to request a debate on NEET in Parliament,” Mr Gandhi said in his letter to the Prime Minister on Tuesday.

He said, “Our aim is to engage constructively to find a way forward. At this point of time, our only concern is the welfare of nearly 24 lakh NEET candidates across India.” “The NEET exam needs immediate attention as it has exposed the deep rot prevailing in our higher education system. Over 70 papers have been leaked in the last seven years, affecting over 2 crore students,” the Congress leader said.
