Prabhas’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ scores biggest opening weekend for an Indian film in North America, surpasses ‘Salaar’
Kalki 2898 AD debuted at number 5 in North America, beating Hollywood films like The Garfield Movie ($2 million) and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ($1.7 million)
Prabhas-led epic dystopian science-fiction action film Kalki 2898 AD has taken a big lead at the overseas box office in its opening weekend. The film has scored the biggest opening weekend for an Indian film in North America. In North America, the film has crossed the $11 million mark in its first weekend.
The film earned an estimated $11.2 million or Rs 93.35 crore in its four-day opening weekend. The film has surpassed films like Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire ($8.90 million), Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani ($10.6 million) and PK ($10.61 million).
Kalki 2898 AD debuted at number 5 in North America, surpassing Hollywood films like The Garfield Movie ($2 million) and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ($1.7 million). Earlier releases like Inside Out 2, Quiet Place: Day One, A, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 and Bad Boys: Ride or Die have also opened at number 5.
