New Jersey’s Akshardham Temple: Facts about the world’s largest Hindu temple beyond India’s borders
In Robbinsville, New Jersey, is the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, which has the distinction of being the largest Hindu temple in the United States.
According to an ANI report, this grand Mahamandir, or grand temple, is dedicated to the iconic 19th century Hindu spiritual leader Lord Swaminarayan. It was built under the inspiration of his 5th spiritual successor, the revered saint Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Construction of this Mahamandir began in 2015, and its official inauguration is scheduled to take place on October 8, 2023, with Mahant Swami Maharaj and respected dignitaries presiding over the event.
BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, spread over 185 acres, and has the expertise of more than 12,500 volunteers drawn from different parts of North America. Together they have created a unique landmark that will endure for more than a millennium, reports ANI.
