Narendra Modi swearing-in ceremony LIVE: Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, there has been a stir in the NDA as Ajit Pawar’s NCP has turned down the offer of a minister of state with independent charge, demanding a place in the Cabinet. BJP MPs Parshottam Rupala and Anurag Thakur have been dropped from the list of Cabinet ministers. The MPs who will be sworn in as members of the Council of Ministers include other BJP leaders like JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Besides, JD(S)’s HD Kumaraswamy may also join the race for a ministerial berth. Other possible appointments include Chirag Paswan (LJP), Ram Nath Thakur of JD(U) and Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM). Besides, Jayant Chaudhary (RLD), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal (Sonilal)), Rammohan Naidu (TDP) and Chandrasekhar Pemmasani (TDP) are also expected to be part of the council. Shiv Sena’s Pratap Rao Jadhav is also among those to be sworn in as members of the Cabinet.
All the MPs who will be part of the council of ministers were called to attend the tea programme at the PM residence in New Delhi at 11.30 am.
Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time at 7.15 pm today. He is the first leader to be elected for a third consecutive time since former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who has completed a full term of each previous term. Narendra Modi along with members of his council of ministers will take oath today. In anticipation of the evening ceremony, PM-designate posters have been put up across Delhi.
President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to Narendra Modi and his council of ministers at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening.
