Munawar Faruqui detained during raid at Mumbai hookah bar, later released

Munawar Faruqui taken into custody: An official said that the raid started around 10.30 pm on Tuesday night and continued till 5 am on Wednesday.

Stand-up comedian and reality TV star Munawar Faruqui was among 14 people detained during a raid on a hookah parlor in Mumbai, police said on Wednesday.
News agency ANI quoted a Mumbai Police official as saying that the Bigg Boss 17 winner was later released.

According to the police, the hookah parlor was being run illegally in the Kila area of the city and ₹4,400 cash and nine hookah pots worth ₹13,500 were seized during a raid on Tuesday.

An official said that the raid started at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday night and continued till 5 am on Wednesday.

Under certain provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, a case has been filed. Police are still searching the location.

“Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui and other individuals were discovered by the police smoking hookah at a joint during the raid. Faruqui and the others were taken into custody by us but were thereafter released. It was given because sections were imposed against him.” There were sureties,” a senior police officer told news agency PTI.
