MS Dhoni breaks silence on IPL future, BCCI meets team owners to discuss plans for 2025 season: ‘I will decide when…’

Chennai Super Kings’ legendary former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not too worried about his Indian Premier League future at the moment. For the past several years, questions have been raised about Dhoni’s future in the league at the end of the season. This year, the succession plan was officially in place when Dhoni handed over the captaincy to opener Ruturaj Gaikwad as they narrowly missed out on a playoff berth to finish 5th.

Dhoni turned 43 this July and has been used mostly as a six-hitter at the end of the innings this season. He made significant contributions lower down the order, hitting 13 sixes and 14 fours off just 73 balls he faced throughout the season. His season strike rate of 220.54 was the highest in his IPL career and marked the first time Dhoni had a strike rate above 200 in a season.
