Mahindra Thar 5-Door production begins

The Thar 5-Door will come with multiple powertrain options, a well-equipped feature list, and safety tech like ADAS Level 2.

One of the most anticipated new car launches of 2024 is the Mahindra Thar 5-Door, which may also be known as the Thar Armada when it launches. Our sources inform us that Mahindra’s Chakan plant has started to produce the Thar 5-Door in series.
Mahindra plans to build 5,000–6,000 Thar 5-Doors per month.

Dealers are already accepting unofficial bookings

The homegrown SUV brand has already ramped up production capacity for the Thar 5-Door citing high interest from potential customers reported by dealers. The company had initially planned to produce around 2,500 units per month (around 30,000 units annually), which has now more than doubled to around 5,000 to 6,000 units per month. This could take the annual production of the Thar 5-door alone to around 70,000 units.

Mahindra Thar 5-door will have more customers
The Thar 5-door will be a more practical alternative to the current Thar, which comes only with a three-door bodystyle. It will have a longer wheelbase with more cabin room and more luggage space, which is lacking in the Thar 3-door.

Just like the regular Thar, Mahindra will offer the Thar 5-door at a range of price points as the powerful SUV will be offered with a variety of powertrain options. From the entry-level RWD 1.5-litre diesel to the fully loaded 2.2-litre diesel with 4WD, the Thar will be available for different customers with different needs. Also, don’t forget that the Thar Armada will also come with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Mahindra is also likely to offer an automatic gearbox option for each of the engines, which will especially appeal to urban users.
