‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is set to cross $100 million mark at the worldwide box office;
Prabhas starrer won’t be able to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawaan’ and ‘Pathan’
Kalki 2898 AD has achieved a significant milestone at the global box office. The science-fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin is all set to cross the $100 million mark at the global box office, a feat only a few films can achieve.
Vaijayanthi Movies, the producers of Kalki 2898 AD, released a poster on the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle announcing that the film has crossed the Rs 900 crore mark worldwide. They shared a poster of Prabhas from an important scene from the film on X and wrote, “Moving towards the magical milestone…”.
In an interview with Zoom, director Nag claimed that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars were his inspirations for Kalki 2898 AD. “We grew up watching Marvel movies,” he declared. I would say Guardians of the Galaxy was more influential than Iron Man. Of course, Star Wars is a huge influence. I love Star Wars, so it’s subconsciously a part of my aesthetics.” As for Kamal’s character Supreme Yaskin, the inspiration came from Tibetan monks and Dorian Gray, not Harry Potter’s Voldemort, as most people thought. The director also admitted that he named the characters after Star Wars and Harry Potter’s Luke Skywalker and Sirius Black.
