Jio Rs 249 prepaid plan: Unlimited calls and 28GB data – better deal than Airtel?
Reliance Jio recently rolled out tariff hikes under which prepaid plan prices will be hiked by 13-25 per cent from July 3, 2024. In these changes, Jio’s second most affordable prepaid plan now goes up from Rs 209 to Rs 249. Despite this price hike, the benefits of the plan will remain the same, making it a competitive option for budget-conscious users.
Jio’s Rs 249 prepaid plan offers 1GB of 4G data per day, equivalent to 28GB, over a validity period of 28 days. While this plan technically offers unlimited data, as per the Fair Usage Policy (FUP), the speed drops to 64kbps once the 28GB limit is reached. Apart from data, the plan also includes unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day, making it a great option for everyday mobile users.
Jio vs Airtel: A closer look
Comparing Jio’s Rs 249 prepaid plan with the equivalent plan from Airtel, Jio leads in terms of overall pricing. While both plans offer similar benefits, including 1GB per day 4G data, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS per day, Airtel’s plan lags behind in terms of validity. Airtel’s Rs 249 prepaid plan is valid for just 24 days, which is four days less than Jio’s validity of 28 days. This means Airtel users get 24GB of data compared to Jio’s 28GB, making Jio a more affordable option.
