Delhi Excise Policy case: ED issues 9th summons to CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received a ninth summons from the Enforcement Directorate on Sunday, requesting that he appear before the federal agency on March 21 in relation to the excise policy matter.

The AAP supremo was granted bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court against arrest in the money laundering case on a surety bond of ₹15,000 and surety amount of ₹1 lakh to skip the summons of the investigating agency.

After receiving a summons from the court based on two ED complaints related to the liquor policy case, Kejriwal appeared in court. He had filed a motion in the Rouse Avenue court to appear before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra on March 16 in defiance of her directive.

Addressing a press conference here, Delhi Minister Atishi said that Kejriwal has replied to all the BJP leaders who were repeatedly saying that the Chief Minister was running away from the court and the federal agency.

“…Arvind Kejriwal went to court yesterday. He has responded to all those BJP leaders who were repeatedly saying that Arvind Kejriwal is running away from the court and ED…Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has silenced them (BJP leaders)…’ ‘

So far, Kejriwal has ignored eight summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the excise policy case. He has said that the summons sent to him by the ED was “illegal”. AAP has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of eliminating opposition parties and toppling governments.
