Arvind Kejriwal bail: Delhi HC reserves order in CBI case related to liquor policy; what Abhishek Singhvi argued

The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved order on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s regular bail plea in the CBI case related to the excise policy matter.

Advocate DP Singh, representing the CBI, told the court that they have filed a chargesheet against Arvind Kejriwal in the trial court. However, Abhishek Manu Singh argued that filing of a chargesheet alone does not grant Kejriwal regular bail.

Completing its investigation, the CBI on Monday filed a final chargesheet in the case against Kejriwal and others.

The CBI told the Delhi High Court that as their investigation progressed, they found more evidence implicating Arvind Kejriwal. Advocate DP Singh said that the chargesheet filed today names six persons, including Kejriwal, but five of them have not been arrested yet, ANI reported.

The CBI counsel further said that IAS officer C Arvind, who was under Manish Sisodia, testified that Vijay Nair had brought a copy of the excise policy to enter it in the computer and Arvind Kejriwal was present at that time. According to the CBI, this indicates Kejriwal’s direct involvement in the case.
