Akhilesh Yadav vs Anurag Thakur over Agneepath scheme in Lok Sabha
During the debate on Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha today, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and BJP MP Anurag Thakur were seen sparring over the Agneepath scheme.
Mr Yadav, MP from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh, said it was a “budget of disappointment” but those in the government were praising it. He said the budget had nothing for the unemployed, youth and villages. “Families know how difficult it is to run a household, educate children and bear the cost of treatment of the elderly,” Mr Yadav said.
Focusing on Uttar Pradesh, the former chief minister said, “You showed the dream of Make in India, but Uttar Pradesh did not get any major project while we got the Prime Minister. Did we get IIM or IIT? Which central institute was set up?Are patients receiving proper care at the two AIIMS that the Samajwadi Party government donated land for in Rae Bareli and Gorakhpur?”
