He said that this stadium, spread over 30 acres in Ganjari village of Raja Talab area of Varanasi, is expected to be built in 30 months at an estimated cost of Rs 451 crore. Officials said that the UP government has spent Rs 121 crore on acquiring land for the stadium, while the BCCI will spend Rs 330 crore on its construction.

Officials said the architecture of the stadium is being designed in such a way that the structure will reflect the essence of Lord Shiva and Kashi. He said that as per the proposed design, the stadium will have a half-moon shape and ‘Trishul’ like flood lights. Officials said the proposed design of the stadium will have eagle-like patterns and the structure will have the shape of a ‘damru’ (a musical instrument associated with Lord Shiva). There will be viewing galleries like the stairs of Ganga Ghat.

Like the Rudraksh International Convention Centre, which was constructed in the shape of a Shiva Lingam and comprised of 108 Rudraksh rosaries, the stadium too will have a reflection of Lord Shiva, he said. “The stadium will have a unique blend of religious architecture,” a government spokesperson said, adding, “When international matches take place in the international cricket stadium, it will mesmerize the world with the aura of spirituality and religious art presented through live cricket.” Television broadcast.
