Kangana Ranaut on Shankaracharya’s remarks: ‘Will politicians sell golgappas?’
Kangana Ranaut said Swami Avimukteshwarananda has ‘hurt everyone’s sentiments’ by calling Eknath Shinde a ‘traitor’ and ‘traitor’.
BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut on Thursday came out in support of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde after Jyotirmath’s Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati said Uddhav Thackeray is a “victim of betrayal”.
Taking a dig at the Shankaracharya, Ranaut said Swami Avimukteshwarananda has “hurt everyone’s sentiments” by calling Shinde a “traitor” and “traitor”.
“It is very normal and constitutional in politics to have alliances, pacts and party splits. The Congress party split in 1907 and again in 1971. If a politician will not do politics, will he sell golgappas?”Ranaut stated on X in a post.
“Dharma also says that if the king himself begins to exploit his subjects, then treason is the ultimate form of dharma,” the speaker stated.
The Mandi MP said Swami Avimukteshwarananda has insulted Hinduism by making such “petty” remarks.
Declaring Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to be a traitor and betrayer, the BJP leader said, “Shankaracharya ji has misused his words and his influence… he has hurt the sentiments of all of us.”
Earlier this week, Swami Avimukteshwarananda met Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai and said he was a “victim of betrayal”.
Shankaracharya, who had turned down an invitation to the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, however said his remarks were not political in nature.
