Did Kejriwal blame Sisodia in excise policy case? What Delhi CM told court

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was formally arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday in a corruption case linked to the alleged excise scam.

Chief Minister Kejriwal pleaded innocent during his court appearance and acquitted himself, his former deputy Manish Sisodia and the AAP of any wrongdoing.

The formal arrest was made after the CBI got permission from the judge. Kejriwal was brought to the court from Tihar Central Jail, where he is currently lodged in connection with the excise scam money laundering case under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate.

Addressing the court, Kejriwal emphatically said, “It is being shown in the media quoting CBI sources that I have put the entire blame on Manish Sisodia in a statement. I have not made any such statement that Sisodia is guilty or anybody else is guilty.I have declared my innocence, as well as the innocence of Sisodia and AAP.”

Accusing the CBI of sensationalising the case, he claimed, “Their whole plan is to defame us in the media. Please record that all this has been run in the media through CBI sources.” “This needs to be clarified. This will be the top headline in all newspapers. Their aim is to sensationalise the case,” Kejriwal said.
