Highlights of the fourth day of Parliament session: President Murmu assures to punish the guilty amid NEET-UG row

President Draupadi Murmu addressed the joint session of Parliament, her first presidential address after the formation of the third National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.President Murmu praised the Election Commission for a job well done in organizing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and congratulated all of the newly elected MPs.

President Murmu spoke about the achievements of the government and said the upcoming budget will be a document of vision for the future.

Aam Aadmi Party MPs boycotted President Murmu’s address to Parliament in protest against the CBI remand of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case.

Earlier on Wednesday, Om Birla was elected Lok Sabha Speaker for the second consecutive time after the House passed a resolution moved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and supported by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh by voice vote.

President Murmu addresses Parliament on government initiatives for youth

Praising the government, President Murmu said it has launched the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat Mera Bharat’ campaign to increase youth participation in nation building.

She congratulated the government on the launch of Nalanda University. “Nalanda was not just a university but a testimony to India’s glorious past as a global knowledge hub,” she said.

Ms Murmu said the government was working towards a digital university. Campaigns like Atal Tinkering Lab, Start-up India and Stand-up India are efforts that have made India the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world.
