Rahul Gandhi, a Congress member, was named the Lok Sabha’s Leader of Opposition.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been appointed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, party general secretary KC Venugopal announced after a meeting of leaders of opposition parties.

At a press conference, Venugopal stated, “CPP chairperson Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to Protem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab informing him about the decision to appoint Rahul Gandhi as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha.”

The decision to appoint Rahul Gandhi as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha was taken at a meeting of leaders of Indian block parties at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in New Delhi. The leaders present at the meeting included NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, TMC MP Derek O’Brien and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal.
