Delhi on high alert for PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony: 10 points

Leaders from neighbouring countries expected to attend PM Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony,

Security has been beefed up in Delhi as PM Narendra Modi is set to take oath for the third time tomorrow. Special arrangements have also been made for world leaders attending the grand ceremony.

New Delhi: India has invited several leaders from neighbouring countries to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, who is going to become Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 9 at 7:15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The same evening, the Council of Ministers will also take the oath of office and secrecy, becoming part of the Prime Minister’s new Cabinet.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, several leaders have accepted the invitation and they will reach New Delhi on Sunday to attend the ceremony.

As leaders of the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) get ready to attend the event on Sunday, the nation’s capital will be on high alert, Delhi Police told news agency PTI. Many of the country’s top hotels, including the Oberoi, Leela, Taj, ITC Maurya, and Claridge’s, have already implemented strict security protocols. For the dignitaries, safe routes between their hotels and the venue have been arranged by the authorities.
Officials stated that “designated routes from their hotels to the venue and back will be provided for the dignitaries attending the swearing-in ceremony.” These leaders will be present at the swearing-in ceremony as well as the banquet that President Draupadi Murmu is hosting that evening at Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is anticipated that the meeting will spark high-level conversations and exchanges, further solidifying regional ties between SAARC member countrie
