Ever since ChatGPT was introduced in 2022, there has been a lot of buzz about students turning to AI to complete projects, assignments, and more. ChatGPT Edu, a version of ChatGPT created specifically for universities to “responsibly” deploy AI for students, faculty, researchers, and campus operations, has recently been released by OpenAI.
Before ChatGPT Edu, the University of Oxford, the University of Texas at Austin, and Columbia University in New York City were using ChatGPT Enterprise.
ChatGPT Edu is powered by GPT-4o and can reason between text and vision and use advanced tools like data analysis. ChatGPT Edu can help with various tasks on campus, such as providing personalized tutoring for students and reviewing their resumes, helping researchers write grant applications, and assisting faculty with grading and feedback. “Our university partners have found innovative ways to make AI accessible to students, faculty, researchers, and campus operations,”
OpenAI said in a blog post. According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Edu excels at text interpretation, coding, and mathematics. In addition, it has advanced capabilities like data analytics, web browsing, and document summarization. Universities will have the option to create custom versions of GPTs, ChatGPT, and share them across university workspaces. It also claims to improve language capabilities in quality and speed with support for over 50 languages
