New Delhi: Today, in Dwarka, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated India’s longest cable-stayed bridge.
‘Sudarshan Setu’ connecting Okha and Bayat Dwarka islands has been constructed at a cost of Rs 979 crore. PM Modi, while laying the foundation stone of the 2.3 km long bridge in October 2017, had said that it would serve as a link between the old and new Dwarka.
According to an official announcement, “the four-lane, 27.20-meter-wide bridge has 2.50-meter-wide walkways on both sides.” Sudarshan Setu is renowned for its distinctive design, which includes walkways adorned with Lord Krishna statues on both sides and Bhagavad Gita words on the other.
The unique design of the bridge includes a pathway decorated with pictures of Lord Krishna and verses from the Bhagavad Gita. This bridge’s solar-powered panels produce one megawatt of electricity.
